A campus tour…
Waste management deals with all types of
waste. Waste
management is intended to reduce adverse effects of waste on human health, the
environment, planetary resource and aesthetics.
The sun was scorching hot when we set out for a campus tour. We headed
towards the waste management unit of our college. Moving slowly, we reached the
Sewage Treatment Plant. We observed the process involved in cleaning the waste
water. We were also explained as to how waste water was treated.
We then proceeded towards the bio-compost pit, just next to the sewage
treatment plant. We had to capture pictures everywhere. We were explained about
the bio-compost pit.
Later on, we moved towards the incinerator. We observed the working of the incinerator. We were also explained about the procedures and measures followed while using the incinerator.
Incineration
is a disposal method in which solid organic wastes are subjected to combustion
so as to convert them into residue and gaseous products. Incineration
reduces the volume of waste. We were educated about how the incineration
process works.
Later, even though we were all tired, we set
for another activity in the campus.
We had organized a cleaning activity the
last time we had visited the Igguthappa temple in Kakkabe.
